Acciano is an Italian municipality with 312 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . It is located 152 kilometers southeast of Rome and 39 kilometers southeast of L'Aquila .

geography

Acciano is located on a hill above the Aterno valley on the edge of Monte Sirente. The municipality belongs to the Sirente-Velino Regional Park . Acciano is a member of the Comunità Montana Sirentina . The districts of Beffi, Roccapreturo, San Lorenzo and Succiano belong to the municipality.

The neighboring towns are Caporciano , Molina Aterno , Navelli , San Benedetto in Perillis , Secinaro and Tione degli Abruzzi .

Acciano is connected to the trunk road network via the Strada Stadale SS 261 Subequana .

With the Acciano and Beffi train stations , the municipality is on the L'Aquila - Sulmona railway line.

history

During the migration period in the 7th century, the fortified villages of Beffi and San Lorenzo were founded in the municipality. The fortifications of the places can still be visited today.
