Ofena is a municipality ( comune ) in the Abruzzo region and the province of L'Aquila in Italy and has 445 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality is located about 29.5 kilometers east-southeast of L'Aquila in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park , belongs to the Comunità montana Campo Imperatore-Piana di Navelli and borders directly on the province of Pescara with an exclave . Ofena is the birthplace of the opera singer Paolo Silveri (1913-2001) and the writer, journalist and literary critic Nicola Moscardelli (1894-1943).
