Spoltore is an Italian commune in the province of Pescara in Abruzzo with 19,226 inhabitants.
The neighboring communities are Cappelle sul Tavo , Cepagatti , Montesilvano , Moscufo , Pescara , Pianella and San Giovanni Teatino (CH).
history
The writing of a Roman presence in the area was found in some remains of stones in parts of crevices and floors. The name of the medieval city comes from Germanic and was called "spelt". In the Middle Ages the city belonged to the municipality of Loreto .
In 1927 the town of Spoltore became the new municipality of the Province of Pescara . In 1928 it lost its administrative autonomy and became part of the Pescara municipality . In 1947 Spoltore was detached from Pescara and received the status of an independent municipality.
