Cepagatti is an Italian municipality with 10,998 inhabitants. The municipality covers 30.34 km² and is located in the province of Pescara near Pianella and Chieti .

The neighboring municipalities are: Chieti , Pianella , Rosciano , San Giovanni Teatino and Spoltore .

geography

The area is characterized by many hills. The village is about 20 kilometers from Pescara and seven kilometers from Chieti . The village is around 145 meters above sea level, but the elevation varies between 100 and 175 meters. Cepagatti borders the municipality of Pianella to the northwest , Rosciano to the south, Chieti to the east and the municipality of Spoltore to the northeast .

history

The name Cepagatti has an unclear origin. There are several options in this regard. Some argue that the name of the village comes from the Latin "pagus captus", others think from "pagus Teatis", which is also borrowed from the Latin. The first documented historical beginnings of the village date back to 1436, when Isabella di Lorena, the wife of Renato d'Angiò, gave the fief of the Cepagatti family to a noble family from Chieti.

Attractions

In the middle of the city rises a tower, which is the last remnant of a castle from the Lombards. In the town hall there is a picture gallery where you can see works by contemporary artists.

economy

Cepagatti's economy is mainly based on agriculture. There are many olive groves which, along with the neighboring communities, provide an oil of excellent quality. The rest of the area is characterized by expanses of wheat and vineyards. Due to the population growth, Cepagatti is now also expanding in industry.
