Civitella Casanova is a municipality of 1702 inhabitants and is located near Villa Celiera and Vicoli in the province of Pescara . Part of the territory of the municipality lies within the borders of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park .

The districts (fractions) include Vestea, Baffo, Centelle, Fazio, Madonna delle Grazie, Mirabello, Topanera, Fontebruna, Pettorano, San Giuseppe, Santanello and Pastini.

history
Objects and buildings from the Roman period have been excavated in the San Benedetto fraction. An underground aqueduct from Roman times was found. Civitella is first mentioned in the Chronica S. Monasterii Casinensis . The village was called Civitella dell'Abbadia when it was founded . In the 12th century there was an abbey with the same name. The monastery survived almost undamaged for seven centuries. The monastery, which lies on the border with the municipality of Villa Celiera, is now only a small ruin.
Attractions
The 16th century parish church of Santa Maria delle Grazie is one of three churches in the parish. The church of San Michele Arcangelo in the fraction Vestea was also built in the Renaissance era. The Chiesa della Madonna della Cona stands outside the village.
Viticulture
In the municipality of vines are varieties Montepulciano for the DOC - wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grown.
