In the 18th century, Albanians immigrated mainly from Piqeras in southern Albania . These Arbëresh settle in Rosciano in the Villa Badessa fraction. By the beginning of the 20th century, the place had essentially kept its identity as an ethnic island almost intact. Mixed marriages with “Latins” ( Italians ), the spread of the mass media and increasing mobility within Italy made families forget the legacy of the Albanian language . In schools and by institutions and authorities, the language was excluded, which means that it has practically disappeared today, although the official “death” cannot be prescribed.

Ecclesiastically they belong to the Eparchy Lungro of the Italo-Albanian Church with Byzantine rite .

Viticulture

In the municipality are vines of varieties Montepulciano for the DOC - wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grown. A lot of olive oil is also produced in Rosciano .
