Pescosansonesco is a municipality of 486 inhabitants and is located near Castiglione a Casauria and Corvara in the province of Pescara .

geography

The municipality is located southeast of the Gran Sasso d'Italia and extends over approx. 18.5 km².

The districts (fractions) include Colle della Guardia, Decontra and Dogli.

The neighboring communities are: Bussi sul Tirino , Castiglione a Casauria , Corvara and Pietranico .

history

The community was called Pesco Sedonisco in the 14th century . The abbey church of San Clemente a Casauria was then owned by the community. The parish church of San Nicola dates back to the 12th century and the church of San Giovanni was built around 1500.

In the Majella earthquake on September 26, 1933, the place was badly affected. When a landslide broke out as a result of the 1934 earthquake, it was abandoned and rebuilt two kilometers away.

economy

The community lives from agriculture. The large forests and pastures provide plenty of food for sheep and pigs. The cultivation of grain and potatoes is also of great importance for the village.

Viticulture

In the municipality of vines are varieties Montepulciano for the DOC - wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grown.
