geography

The place is located on the northern edge of the Majella National Park in the Apennines , around 40 kilometers from the Adriatic coast. Parts of the municipality are in the national park.

The municipality also includes the fractions Olivuccia, San Giovanni, Solcano and Trovigliano.

The neighboring municipalities are Abbateggio , Bolognano , Caramanico Terme and Scafa .
