Nocciano is an Italian commune with 1813 inhabitants in the province of Pescara in the Abruzzo region .

The neighboring municipalities are: Alanno , Catignano , Cugnoli , Pianella and Rosciano .

history

Objects from pre-Roman and Roman times have been found in the community. Excavations around the village have uncovered several ruins of Roman buildings and many ancient objects such as weapons, glasses and coffins. The remains of a Roman villa with mosaics have also emerged, the origins of which were an ancient Roman city called Follonica .

Around the year 1000 a watchtower was built in the area, which is still visible today. In the 12th century the castle was enlarged with the construction of two wings, one on the right and one on the left of the tower. In 1670 Antonio Aliprandi, who belonged to an old noble family, took possession of the Nocciano fief.
