history

The oldest historical memories of Cappelle are tied to the nearby town of Montesilvano , with which it often fought fierce rivalries and disputes in the past. In earlier times this area was part of the ancient Angulum (today Città Sant'Angelo ), one of the four cities that the Emperor Augustus assigned to the people of Vestini. The origin of the name Cappelle is controversial. The name probably comes from the old chapels in the entire area ( Villa Carmine , Villa Cappelle , Villa S. Maria , Bivio Casone-Moscufo ).

The most important event at the moment is the traditional Palio delle Pupe in Cappelle sul Tavo, which takes place every year during the summer festival. All counties and districts of the country are in the process of preparing their doll, which is nothing more than a paper mache doll representing a beautiful woman and adorned with games and fireworks .

Viticulture

In the municipality of vines are varieties Montepulciano for the DOC - wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grown.
