Bassano in Teverina is 84 km north of Rome , 22 km east of Viterbo and 8 km west of Orte . It lies in the valley of the Tiber . The medieval town center rises directly above a slope that descends steeply towards the valley.

The neighboring municipalities are Attigliano ( TR ), Bomarzo , Giove (TR), Orte , Soriano nel Cimino , Vasanello .

Alessandro Romoli ( PdL ) was elected mayor in June 2009. His center-right list also made up the majority in the local council with 8 out of 12 seats. He replaced Carlo Piccialuti ( PD ), who was no longer a candidate.
