Vignanello is 66 km north of Rome and 20 km east of Viterbo . The place is located in the Monti Cimini northeast of Lake Vico . He is a member of the Comunità Montana dei Cimini .

The neighboring municipalities are Corchiano , Fabrica di Roma , Gallese , Soriano nel Cimino , Vallerano and Vasanello .

history

politics

Federico Grattarola ( PD ) was elected mayor in May 2003 and confirmed in office in April 2008. His left-wing citizen list made up the majority in the municipal council with 11 out of 16 seats. In 2013, the previous Vice Mayor, Vincenzo Grasselli (also Partito Democratico), was elected as his successor, but with the last election on June 20, 2018, Grattarola again received the majority of votes as Mayor.

Here and in some neighboring towns ( Vasanello , Bassano in Teverina , Corchiano and in parts of the municipalities of Soriano nel Cimino , Fabrica di Roma and Gallese ) white and red wines with the designation Vignanello DOC are grown, which has been a "controlled designation of origin " since 1992 ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC), which was last updated on March 7, 2014. The white wines are predominantly made from the Trebbiano Toscano grape variety , the red wines from Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo .
