Bouconville-Vauclair is a French municipality with 187 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Laon , which gave the whole area the name Laonnois , to the canton of Guignicourt and to the municipality of Chemin des Dames .
geography
The municipality is located about 14 kilometers southeast of Laon and about 30 kilometers northwest of Reims . The Parc Nautique de l'Ailette is located a little west of the municipality .
history
The parish was formed in 1923 as Bouconville-Vauclerc . The early core of the municipality, the small settlement around the Vauclerc Abbey, which has been preserved as a ruin, was completely destroyed. Via the abbey, Bouconville-Vauclair was an intermediate stage on the Via Francigena between Laon and Corbeny .
