Barenton-Cel is surrounded by the neighboring communities Chéry-lès-Pouilly in the West, Chalandry in the northwest and north, Barenton-sur-Serre in the Northeast, Verneuil-sur-Serre in the east, Barenton-Bugny in the southeast as well as the in Canton Laon- 1 municipality of Aulnois-sous-Laon in the south and south-west. The municipality is crossed by the Barentons River.
