Wissignicourt (in church planting in 1793 still with the spelling Wuissignicourt ) is a French municipality with 167 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Aisne department in the region of Hauts-de-France (2015 Picardy ). The municipality is part of the Laon arrondissement and the Picardie des Châteaux municipal association, which was founded in 2016 . The inhabitants are called Wissignicourtois .

geography

Wissignicourt is located in a hilly, very wooded area (Forêt Domaniale de Saint-Gobain) about 15 kilometers west-southwest of the departmental capital Laon . Two kilometers south of Wissignicourt, the Canal de l'Oise à l'Aisne runs parallel to the Ailette River . The districts of La Montagne in the north-west and Fontenille in the south-east belong to the municipality . Wissignicourt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cessières-Suzy in the north, Anizy-le-Grand in the south and east, Brancourt-en-Laonnois in the west and Prémontré in the north-west.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are three farms in the municipality of Wissignicourt (cultivation of grain, pulses and oilseeds).

The Anizy-Pinon train station is located in the municipality of Pinon, three kilometers to the south . Near Pinon there are two connections to the motorway-like route nationale 2 between Laon and Soissons .
