The municipality belongs to the Laon arrondissement , the Marle canton (until 2015: Crécy-sur-Serre canton ) and the Pays de la Serre municipality .

Mesbrecourt-Richecourt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montigny-sur-Crécy in the east, Assis-sur-Serre in the southeast, Remies in the southwest, Nouvion-et-Catillon in the west and the municipality of La Ferté-Chevresis in the canton of Ribemont in the north. The Serre runs along the southern municipal boundary.

history

In 1845 the villages of Mesbrecourt and Richecourt were merged to form today's municipality of Mesbrecourt-Richecourt.
