Goudelancourt-lès-Pierrepont is a French municipality with 135 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (before 2016 Picardy ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Laon , the canton of Guignicourt (until 2015 Sissonne ) and the commune association of Champagne Picarde .

geography

The community is located around 23 kilometers east of Laon Prefecture . Goudelancourt-lès-Pierrepont is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Ébouleau in the east, on a short section of Bucy-lès-Pierrepont in the southeast, Mâchecourt in the south and southwest and by the municipalities of Autremencourt in the canton of Marle in the west and La Neuville-Bosmont in the north .

history

From 1981 to 2001 an archaeological site was excavated on the territory of the municipality. This site consists of an important necropolis of the Merovingian from the 6th to the 7th century. A total of 458 graves were found. The results of these excavations are exhibited in the Musée des Temps Barbares in Marle . Based on the excavations, a Merovingian farm was reconstructed according to the principles of experimental archeology .
