Montaigu is a French municipality with 761 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Laon and the canton of Guignicourt (until 2015: canton of Sissonne ). The inhabitants are called Montacutains .

geography

Montaigu is about 20 kilometers east-southeast of Laon . Montaigu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Marchais in the north, Sissonne in the east, Saint-Erme-Outre-et-Ramecourt in the south and Mauregny-en-Haye in the west.

The A26 autoroute runs through the municipality .
