The chapel in Stadelschwarzach

The so-called war memorial chapel in Stadelschwarzach in Lower Franconia is a small church on the edge of the Prichsenstadt district. It is located on the "Kirchberg" at the western exit of the village. Today it is part of the dean's office in Kitzingen .

history

According to legend, there was a small monastery of nuns on the so-called "Kirchberg" on the outskirts of the village of Stadelschwarzach . Today a stone cross next to the chapel reminds of this assignment. After the nuns had left the place, the first Romanesque church in Stadelschwarzach was built at this point . After 1945 the small chapel was built here in honor of those who died in the World War.

Architecture and equipment

The chapel is in a raised position and is surrounded by a wall. It is oriented to the north and was worked as a small rectangular building. A gable roof closes the church at the top. Above the portal you can see an iron cross as a symbol of the warrior's memory. A large crucifix was placed inside . The dead of the world wars were immortalized on boards left and right.
