The Kreuzkapelle in Kirchschönbach in Lower Franconia is the cemetery chapel of the Prichsenstadt district. It stands on the edge of the local cemetery on Sambacher Weg. The chapel is part of the Kitzingen deanery .

history

The chapel was built as a cemetery chapel at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1911 it was erected at its current location under the supervision of Georg Seiling. The benediction was carried out in the same year by pastor Eugen Hippeli. After the chapel was left in the weather for a long time and fell into disrepair, plans were made to demolish it in 1996. However, this could be prevented by a comprehensive renovation. The Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments has classified the church building as a monument .

Architecture and equipment

The church presents itself as a small hall building . It ends with a polygonal choir, a roof turret was attached above the portal. The chapel is cleared through on each side by an arched window. The portal was also provided with a round arch, above there is a small crucifix. The church closes with a gable roof .

In the tower there is a bell from Rinker / Sinn, which was cast in May 1997 and sounds c³.
