Jonathan Coeffic (born June 1, 1981 in Villeurbanne , France ) is a former French rower .

Career

Coeffic began his international career in rowing with a participation in the World Junior Championships in 1999. In the double scull , however, he did not get beyond 17th place. In the U23 junior age category he came twice in the quadruple sculls at the vintage World Championships for use and was able to in 2002 a gold medal in quadruple sculls with Julien Despres , Xavier Philippe and Frédéric Doucet win.

Coeffic also competed in the World Cup with the same team in order to gain initial experience in the open age group. Later in the year, the U23 junior four was also used at the World Championships in the open age group in Seville, Spain, where he was only able to occupy 12th place. In the following year Desprès was replaced by Frédéric Perrier and the team reached eighth place at the 2003 World Cup . Coeffic was also part of the French double foursome in the 2004 Olympic season. With Frédéric Perrier, Xavier Philippe and Cédric Berrest , however, he did not make it into the Olympic semifinals in Athens, so that the French team finished the Olympic competition 13th and last.

In the new Olympic cycle, Coeffic initially rowed a season with Jean-Baptiste Macquet in double sculls. At the World Championships in Gifu, Japan, the duo missed the A final, but won the B final and finished in 7th place. The following year Coeffic was back in the rejuvenated double foursome, which at the 2006 World Championships initially only 10th place in the line-up of Cédric Berrest, Julien Bahain , Jean-David Bernard and Jonathan Coeffic. In the following year, the team succeeded in unchanged form at the World Championships in the pre-Olympic year, finally winning the silver medal and qualifying for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. There Pierre-Jean Peltier worked for Bernard and a bronze medal was won for France.

After that Coeffic appeared twice in international championships. In 2009 he was also part of the team in the double foursome, which took fifth place at the World Championships in Poznan, Poland . After a year of hiatus, he tried a comeback in 2011, but only managed a 13th place in the double scull at the World Championships in Bled. He then ended his active career after two appearances in the Summer Olympics and seven World Cups.

Coeffic started for the Aviron Majolan association . With a height of 1.90 m, his competition weight was around 91 kg.
