Xavier Philippe (born November 22, 1980 in Amiens , France ) is a former French rower .

Career

At the age of 18, Philippe gained his first international experience by participating in the 1998 Junior World Championships in Linz, Austria. In the double scull he was able to win a bronze medal with Alexandre Belgy. From 2000 to 2002 he was then used three times at the then unofficial world championships for the U23 age group, where he won silver in double sculls in 2001 and gold in double sculls in 2002.

With the junior team of the 2002 season in double fours, Philippe was also able to compete for the first time in the World Cup in the open age group. With Julien Desprès , Jonathan Coeffic and Frédéric Doucet he reached the B final twice, which the quartet also achieved at the age-open World Championships in 2002 . In the following year, Desprès was replaced by Frédéric Perrier in the team and qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympics with 8th place at the World Championships in Milan . With a further change in line-up - Cédric Berrest moved into the team for Doucet - the large French sculling boat started in Athens, but was the only team to retire there. She finished 13th and last overall.

In the 2006 season Philippe tried a comeback after a year off. He was reported again at the World Cup in eighth place , but the team did not start at the regatta in Poznan, Poland. Since he was not considered for the World Championships in Eton, UK, Philippe ended his career in international rowing after the season.

Philippe started for the Sport Nautique d'Amiens club in his hometown. With a height of 1.91 m, his competition weight was around 97 kg.
