World Rowing Championships 2006

The 2006 World Rowing Championships took place from August 20 to August 27, 2006 on Dorney Lake near Eton (GB). The regatta was organized by the World Rowing Federation (FISA).

A total of about 1100 athletes from 64 nations competed. The German Rowing Association contested the regatta with 80 rowers, making it the second largest contingent after the USA.

doping

In the women's four-four, the Russian team was first honored as world champion. The gold medal was retrospectively awarded to Great Britain because of a positive doping test by Olga Samulenkowa during a training control in the run-up to the World Championships.
