Amber Jay Halliday (* 13. November 1979 in Canberra ) is a former Australian Lightweight - rower and former cyclist .

The 1.70 meter tall Amber Halliday won the Nations Cup in lightweight double sculls in 1999 together with Hannah Avery Hall . At the 2000 World Rowing Championships , Sally Causby , Amber Halliday, Eliza Blair and Catriona Roach finished second behind the German crew in the lightweight quadruple sculls . The following year, Josephine Lips came on board for Eliza Blair, who won the title at the 2001 World Rowing Championships . In 2002 Sally Causby and Amber Halliday switched to the Olympic boat class of lightweight double sculls and also won the world championship in this boat class . A year later, the German double scull with Marie-Louise Dräger and Claudia Blasberg won the 2003 World Rowing Championships , with Causby and Halliday receiving the silver medal behind them. At the 2004 Summer Olympics , the Romanian boat won ahead of the German crew and the Dutch women, Amber Halliday took fourth place together with Sally Newmarch .

After a year break, Amber Halliday returned in the 2006 season and together with Marguerite Houston finished second behind the Chinese lightweight double scull at the 2006 World Rowing Championships . In 2007 in Munich Houston and Halliday won the world title. At the 2008 Olympic Games , the two Australians missed the A final and finished eighth in the overall standings.

After her rowing career, Halliday switched to cycling. In 2009 she won the Tour of New Zealand and in 2010 the individual time trial at the Australian Road Championships. She then ended her active sports career.
