Helke Nieschlag

Helke Nieschlag (born September 9, 1988 in Göttingen ) is a German rower . Her greatest success so far is winning the world championship title in the lightweight quadruple scull in 2009.

Nieschlag came to rowing relatively late in 2006. In 2008 she was able to qualify for the U23 World Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel by winning the German U23 championships in the lightweight single and won silver. In 2009 she also represented Germany in this boat class and became U23 world champion.

In the same year she also competed in the Rowing World Cup for the first time and won the lightweight quadruple scull with Julia Kröger , Laura Tibitanzl and Lena Müller in Lucerne . The team was nominated for the World Championships in Poznan and was able to win the gold medal there.

In 2010 Nieschlag started together with Sina Burmeister in the lightweight double scull at the U23 World Championships and won bronze.

Nieschlag lives in Hamburg and starts for RG Hansa Hamburg .
