Giulia Mignemi (born November 5, 1999 in Catania ) is an Italian rower . She won the gold medal in the lightweight quadruple scull 2019 at the World Rowing Championships .

Career

For the first time in her career, Giulia Mignemi took part in the Junior Rowing World Championships in Rotterdam in 2016 , where she started as part of the quadruple. In addition to her, the crew of this boat included Ottavia Ravoni , Alessandra Montesano and Elisa Mondelli . The quartet missed the A-final and could only qualify for the B-final. In this final run they finished second, so that they finally finished eighth. A year later she took part in the junior world championships in rowing for the second and last time and started in Trakai with Silvia Crosio in double sculls. The two were able to qualify for the A final and just missed out on a medal with fourth place.

In 2018 Giulia Mignemi first took part in the U23 World Rowing Championships 2018 in Poznan and formed the lightweight quadruple scull together with Paola Piazzolla , Allegra Francalacci and Arianna Noseda . The four of them were able to qualify for the final directly over the prelim and secured the U23 world championship title there with more than five seconds ahead of the Dutch and French boats. As U23 world champions, the four of them started together in Plovdiv at the 2018 World Rowing Championships and were able to qualify for the A final directly through their preliminary run. In the A-final they took sixth and last place.

In 2019, she competed in Lucerne with Valentina Rodini at the 2019 European Rowing Championships in Lucerne and the two reached the A-final in the lightweight double scull . There they took sixth and last place. Afterwards Giulia Mignemi took near Sarasota and Bradenton at the U23 World Rowing Championships in 2019 in part. Together with Greta Martinelli , Silvia Crosio and Arianna Noseda , she formed the lightweight quadruple scull . The quartet was able to qualify for the A-final directly over the preliminary run and secured the U23 world championship title there with almost seven seconds ahead of the boats from Germany and the United States.

As U23 world champions, the quartet took part in the 2019 rowing world championships in Linz , where they competed in the lightweight quadruple sculls. In the final they were able to secure the world championship title with a lead of more than two seconds over the boats from China and Germany.
