Lena Müller

Lena Müller (born June 16, 1987 in Duisburg ) is a former German rower . Her achievements are the victories at the world championships in 2009, 2010 and 2015 in the lightweight - quadruple sculls and participation in the Olympic Games 2012th

Müller was a member of the German national team for the first time in 2008, and at the World Championships in Ottensheim she took fifth place in the lightweight quadruple scull. She had previously won a bronze medal in this boat class at the Rowing World Cup in Poznan .

In 2009 Müller started together with Julia Kröger in the lightweight double sculls at the U23 World Championships and became vice world champion. At the final World Cup in Lucerne she had previously won the lightweight quadruple sculls with Kröger, Laura Tibitanzl and Helke Nieschlag . Therefore, the team was nominated for the World Championships in Poznan , where they could win the gold medal. On October 6, 2010 she was elected Sportswoman of the Year for the city of Duisburg in the Mercatorhalle in Duisburg. In 2011 Müller started in the lightweight single at the Rowing World Cup in Hamburg and finished second here. In the same year she rowed in the same boat class at the rowing world championships in Bled, Slovenia, third place and thus bronze.

On May 24, 2012, Müller won the qualification regatta in Lucerne together with her rowing partner Anja Noske and was thus able to qualify the lightweight double scull for the Olympic rowing competition in London. At the Olympic regatta , the two took sixth place. A year later, at the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju , they took third place. Lena Müller and Anja Noske won the bronze medal at the European Rowing Championships in 2014 . In 2015 Noske and Müller started together with Katrin Thoma and Leonie Pieper in the lightweight quadruple sculls, the boat won the title at the world championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette.

Müller initially started for the Duisburg rowing club , from 2012 Müller started for the Ulm Rowing Club Danube , where she has also lived and trained since spring 2010. After missing the qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio, Müller announced her retirement from high-performance sport in order to concentrate on her teaching degree at the University of Augsburg .
