Weronika Deresz (* 5. September 1985 in Warsaw ) is a Polish lightweight - rower .

Athletic career

Weronika Deresz received the silver medal in the lightweight double scull at the U23 World Championships in 2006 together with Karolina Widun , and in 2007 they both won. In 2008 the 1.71 m tall Weronika Deresz won her first medals in the adult class. At the world championships in the non-Olympic boat classes, the Australians won in the lightweight double sculls ahead of Monika Myszk , Magdalena Kemnitz , Weronika Deresz and Ilona Mokronowska , at the European championships the Greek boat won the lightweight double sculls ahead of Weronika Deresz and Ilona Mokronowska. In 2009 Deresz finished fifth at the world championships with the lightweight double scull . In 2010 Deresz competed in the lightweight one and reached sixth place at the European Championships . After Weronika Deresz was unable to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games together with Magdalena Kemnitz or in 2012 with Jaclyn Halko , she started with Kemnitz, Halko and Agnieszka Renc in the lightweight quadruple sculls at the 2012 World Championships and won the title. At the end of the 2012 season, Deresz and Renc finished fourth in the lightweight double scull at the European Championships .

At the European Championships in 2013, the Italians won the lightweight double sculls ahead of the Germans, followed by Katarzyna Welna and Weronika Deresz, who won the bronze medal, and at the World Championships in 2013 , the Polish women took tenth place. At the European Championships in 2014 Deresz reached sixth place together with Joanna Dorociak , at the World Championships in 2014 the two came in second in the B-final in eighth place. In 2015 Dorociak and Deresz received the bronze medal at the European Championships 2015 behind the British women and the Germans. At the 2015 World Championships , the two finished eighth, which meant a starting place for the Polish lightweight double scull at the 2016 Olympic Games . At the European Championships in 2016, the Dutch women won ahead of the Germans, Joanna Dorociak and Weronika Deresz received the bronze medal as in 2015. At the 2016 Olympic Games, Martyna Mikołajczak competed for the sick Dorociak, Deresz and Mikolajczak took seventh place. At the European Championships in 2017 , the Polish lightweight two-man won the title with Deresz and Mikolajczak. In 2018 Deresz and Dorociak won the silver medal behind the Dutch Ilse Paulis and Marieke Keijser .
