Karin Stephan

Karin Stephan (born December 18, 1968 in Mannheim ) is a former German rower . She was world champion in 2000.

Stephan started for the Ludwigshafen rowing club from 1878 . Her greatest successes were a second place at the 1998 World Championships in lightweight double sculls (with Claudia Blasberg ) and winning the gold medal at the 2000 World Championships in lightweight double sculls.

Other placements at world championships include:

  • 4th place in the lightweight single at the 1997 World Cup in Aiguebelette, France,
  • a 4th place in the lightweight quadruple sculls at the 1994 World Cup in Indianapolis, USA and
  • 5th place in the lightweight quadruple sculls at the 1993 World Championships in Racice, Czech Republic

Stephan is currently working as a referee in national and international regattas.

Stephan is married and lives in Mannheim.
