Silvia Crosio (born April 27, 1999 in Turin ) is an Italian rower . In the lightweight quadruple sculls she won the gold medal at the 2019 rowing world championships .

Career

In 2017 she took part in the Junior Rowing World Championships for the first and only time in her career and competed with Giulia Mignemi at the 2017 Junior Rowing World Championships in Trakai . Together the two reached the A-final and missed a medal there behind the British, German and Canadian boats with fourth place. A year later, Silvia Crosio competed in the U23 rowing world championships for the first time and competed in a double scull with Stefania Buttignon . They reached the 2018 U23 World Rowing Championships in Poznan together the A-final and were able to win the U23 world championship with almost 3 seconds ahead of the German and British boats.

The following year, she competed in the 2019 U23 World Rowing Championships near Sarasota and Bradenton as part of the lightweight quadruple scull crew . In addition to her, the crew of the Italian lightweight double foursome included Giulia Mignemi , Greta Martinelli and Arianna Noseda . The quartet was able to win the A-final with almost seven seconds ahead of the boats from Germany and the United States. As newly crowned U23 world champions, they competed together at the 2019 World Rowing Championships , which were held in Linz . In the final, they were able to secure the world championship title with a two-second lead over the Chinese and German boats.
