Rowing World Championships 2019

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2019 World Rowing Championships took place from August 25 to September 1, 2019 on the Linz-Ottensheim regatta course near Ottensheim in Austria .

At the championships, 29 competitions were held, ten each for men and women and nine for parroowers of both sexes. One team per competition class from all 155 member associations of the World Rowing Association was eligible to participate . A qualification regatta did not exist.

In the run-up to the World Championships, a tragic accident occurred on August 21 at around 1 p.m. on the regatta course during training, in which the 33-year-old Belarusian par-rower Dmitrij Ryschkewitsch died. He had capsized before and could not be rescued quickly enough. Ryschkewitsch should start in the PR1-One of the men and had already competed twice as a para rower at world championships.

Announced competitions

The A-Finals were held on three days (as of July 28, 2019). On Friday, August 30th, first the 11 non-Olympic and non-Paralympic boat classes, on Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st, finally the 14 Olympic and 4 Paralympic boat classes were launched.
