Koen Metsemakers

Koen Metsemakers (* 30th April 1992 ) is a Dutch rower who in 2019 European champion and world champion in quadruple sculls was.

Athletic career

Koen Metsemakers competed in a double scull with Floris Roling in 2016 and finished ninth at the World Cup in Poznan. In 2017 he switched to the double foursome. Together with Nicolas van Sprang , Abe Wiersma and Freek Robbers , he reached sixth place at the European Championships in Račice u Štětí . At the World Championships in Sarasota Abe Wiersma, Koen Metsemakers, Amos Keijser and Freek Robbers took fourth place. In 2018 only Wiersma and Metsemakers stayed in the boat. The Dutch four-four with Dirk Uittenbogaard , Stef Broenink , Koen Metsemakers and Abe Wiersma took fifth place at both the European and World Championships . In 2019 Broenink switched to the single and Tone Wieten added the double four . The Dutch won the title at the European Championships in Lucerne ahead of the Italians. At the World Championships in Linz, the Dutch won ahead of the Poles and the Italians.
