Robert Sens

Robert Sens (born October 29, 1977 in Schwerin ) is a former German rower .

In 1997, Sens won two World Cups as a member of the Germany eight, but only finished fifth at the 1997 World Rowing Championships with the German eight . In 1998 he switched to the two without a helmsman ; Here he won two World Cup races with Detlef Kirchhoff and took second place at the World Cup finals in Lucerne behind the Australians Mike McKay and Drew Ginn . At the 1998 World Rowing Championships, the Germans won ahead of the Australians. The following year, Sens and Kirchhoff took sixth place at the 1999 World Rowing Championships . In 2000, Sens and Kirchhoff reached ninth place at the 2000 Olympic Games after rowing their second German championship title after 1998.

Robert Sens then switched from oar rowing to scull rowing . In 2002 , together with René Bertram , Stephan Volkert and Marco Geisler, he won the world championship in the four-four . The following year could André Willms , Volkert, Geisler and Sens defend the title. At the 2004 Olympic Games , Willms, Volkert, Geisler and Sens took fifth place.

After René Bertram, Karsten Brodowski , Marco Geisler and Robert Sens had only finished sixth at the 2005 World Rowing Championships in the double scull, Bertram and Sens switched to the double scull in 2006 ; at the rowing world championships in 2006 , however, the two only reached the B final and took seventh place in the overall standings. Robert Sens won his last international medal at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in quadruples when he won the bronze medal together with René Bertram, Karsten Brodowski and Hans Gruhne .

The two-meter man Robert Sens rowed in his career for the Berlin rowing club , for the rowing club on Lech Kaufering and for the Munich rowing club . From the end of 2008, Sens worked as a regional trainer for Rhineland-Palatinate and had his office at the Mainz youth training center at the Mainz rowing club from 1878 . At the beginning of April 2020 he was introduced by the Austrian Rowing Association as the new national coach.
