David Shain

David Šain (born February 8, 1988 in Osijek ) is a Croatian rower .

Šain started rowing in 2003, at the Junior World Championships in 2006 he finished second behind the German boat with the Croatian four- four. At the U23 World Championships in 2007 he formed a double scull with Valent Sinković , who rowed to fourth place. At the 2007 World Rowing Championships , the two sat in a double scull, which finished 17th. Šain joined the European Rowing Championships in 2008 in the one and placed himself in tenth.

In 2009, Šain competed in the first World Cup regatta in Banyoles with Damir Martin in a double scull, the two achieved fourth place. At the second World Cup regatta in Munich, the Croatian double four won with David Šain, Martin Sinković , Damir Martin and Valent Sinković. With this line-up, the boat also won the U23 World Championships, and the 2009 World Rowing Championships saw the Croatians cross the finish line as the fourth boat.

In 2010 the four Croatians won all three World Cup regattas as well as the U23 World Championships. After finishing second behind the Polish boat at the 2010 European Rowing Championships , the Croatians won the title at the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand. In 2011, the Croatians took 2nd, 1st and 5th place in the World Cup, and at the 2011 World Rowing Championships the boat received the bronze medal behind the boats from Australia and Germany. In 2012, the Croatian double scull won all three World Cup regattas, and at the Olympic Games in London he won the silver medal behind the German boat.

At the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju , he won gold in a double scull, ahead of Germany and Great Britain.
