Rossano Galtarossa
Rossano Galtarossa (born July 6, 1972 in Padua ) is an Italian rower who won four medals in five Olympic competitions.
Life
Galtarossa was already successful in the junior area. In 1989 he won silver in single at the Junior World Championships , in 1990 he won double sculls . In 1992 he received the Olympic bronze medal in a double foursome. From 1994 to 1998, the Italian double foursome with Galtarossa won the world title four times in a row, but only finished fourth at the 1996 Olympic Games. At the 1999 World Cup, the boat missed the final and then won the B run. The following year Galtarossa achieved his greatest success with the Olympic victory in Sydney. In the following years, Galtarossa was mostly in double sculls, in this boat class he won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games. After a break of two years, Galtarossa returned to rowing in 2007 and immediately won the Italian championship in single. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 Galtarossa rowed the silver medal in a double foursome.
In total, Rossano Galtarossa won 14 Italian championship titles. In 2008, after his fourth Olympic medal, Rossano Galtarossa was awarded the title of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic .
