Joachim Dreifke
Joachim Dreifke (born December 26, 1952 in Greifswald ) is a former, very successful rowing athlete , who started his career in the GDR and won several medals at the Olympic Games and other notable competitions. Dreifke started at the Greifswald rowing club and was delegated to ASK Vorwärts Rostock in 1972. After his active career, he became a coach. He was also successful in senior competitions.

- 1974: World champion in four-four in Lucerne
- 1976: Bronze medal in single at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal behind Pertti Karppinen and Peter-Michael Kolbe
- 1977: World Champion in One in Amsterdam
- 1978: World Champion in quadruples on Lake Karapiro , New Zealand
- 1979: World champion in double fours in Bled
- 1980: Gold medal together with Klaus Kröppelien in double sculls at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow
- 1982: Vice world champion in double sculls in Lucerne
In 1977 Dreifke was GDR master in one; In 1975 together with Jürgen Bertow and in 1981 and 1982 together with Klaus Kröppelien he was each GDR champion in double sculls. He also won six titles in quadruples: 1973, 1974, 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1983. He was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit several times . In 1984 he received this gold medal.
