John Storey (rower)

John Storey (born July 19, 1987 in Cambridge , England ) is a New Zealand rower .

Storey started rowing in 2003. In 2009 he won the gold medal in the four-man team at the U23 World Championships . In 2010 Storey competed in the Rowing World Cup for the first time . At the 2010 World Championships , which took place at home on Lake Karapiro , he finished seventh with the New Zealand double foursome. A year later, he rowed to tenth place in the quadruple sculls at the World Championships in Bled . At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , Storey finished seventh with the New Zealand double scull.

After a year off to graduate, Storey returned to the quadruple scull in 2014, when the boat took twelfth place at the World Championships in Amsterdam . 2015 followed a ninth place at the world championships on the Lac d'Aiguebelette . At the 2016 Olympics , the New Zealand double scull finished tenth.

In 2017 Storey formed a double scull with Christopher Harris . The two won the World Cup regattas in Poznan and Lucerne and finally also won the World Championships in Sarasota . In 2018, the two finished fourth in the World Cup twice. At the World Championships in Plovdiv they won bronze behind the French and the Swiss.

The 1.86 m Storey starts for the Avon Rowing Club in Christchurch.
