Ákos Haller

Ákos Haller (born December 8, 1976 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian rower who, together with Tibor Pető, was twice world champion in double sculls .

In the 1998 Rowing World Cup , 1.93 m tall Ákos Haller took fourth place three times in double sculls, together with Laszlo Szogi he missed the A final at the 1998 Rowing World Championships , and they both won the B final in the overall standings seventh place. In 1999, Tibor Pető joined Haller on the boat, and together they rowed fifth place at the 1999 World Rowing Championships . In the Rowing World Cup 2000, the two Hungarians achieved third place three times. In the final of the 2000 Olympic Games , they again placed fifth.

In 2001 Haller and Pető dominated the World Cup with three regatta victories, and the Hungarians won the title at the 2001 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne. After two wins in the first two World Cup regattas in 2002, the Hungarians were defeated by the Czechs Milan Doleček and Ondřej Synek in Munich . At the 2002 World Rowing Championships in Seville, the Czechs only finished fifth, the Hungarians were able to repeat their title win from the previous year. At the World Cup opener in 2003 Haller and Pető took sixth place. That should remain the best result of the season, at the rowing world championships in 2003 the Hungarians came in seventh place as winners of the B final.

In the 2004 Rowing World Cup, Haller and Pető reached the A final three times, finishing fifth once and sixth twice. At the 2004 Olympic Games , Gábor Benczik finished eleventh with Ákos Haller. In 2005 Haller rowed in the one , and 17th place at the 2005 World Rowing Championships was the disappointing end of the season. In the 2006 World Cup, Haller and Pető rowed together again in double sculls and took second place in the first regatta. After a fourth and a fifth place in the two other regattas, 13th place at the rowing world championships in 2006 did not meet expectations. In his last major international appearance, Ákos Haller sat at the 2008 World Rowing Championships in two with a helmsman and finished seventh in this non-Olympic boat class.
