Niels Secher
Niels Henry Secher (born June 24, 1946 in Fredriksberg ) is a former Danish rower . Together with Jørgen Engelbrecht , he won the first world championship title for Danish rowers in 1970 in a double scull.
Life
The 1.93 m tall Secher started in the 1968 Olympic Games in a single and finished eighth overall.
At the first two World Rowing Championships in 1962 and 1966 there was no medal for Danish rowers. At the rowing world championships in 1970 Engelbrecht and Secher won the double scull, and the Danish four-man without helmsman around Kurt Helmudt won the bronze medal. At the European Rowing Championships in 1971 and at the Olympic Games in 1972 Engelbrecht and Secher took fourth place each.
After his career, Secher became a doctor at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. From 1998 to 2003 he was head of the clinic there, since then he has been professor of anesthesia .
