Valent Sinković (born August 2, 1988 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian rower and 2016 Olympic champion.

Sinković began rowing in 2000. After an eleventh place in the single at the Junior World Championships in 2004, he reached seventh place in 2005. A year later at the Junior World Championships in 2006 , he and Damir Martin finished second behind the Danish boat in a double scull. At the U23 World Championships in 2007 he sat together with David Šain in a double scull, who rowed to fourth place. At the 2007 World Rowing Championships , the two rowed in a quadruple scull , which finished 17th. In 2008 he started with his younger brother Martin Sinković , the two of them won the silver medal behind the British boat at the U23 World Championships; at the European Championships they finished fifth.

In 2009 the Sinković brothers reached third place in the double scull at the first World Cup regatta in Banyoles, and fourth was the second Croatian double scull with Martin and Šain. For the second World Cup regatta in Munich, the two double sculls teamed up to form a double quad and won the regatta. David Šain, Martin Sinković, Damir Martin and Valent Sinković also won the U23 World Championships in this line-up, and the Croatians rowed to fourth place at the 2009 World Rowing Championships .

In 2010 the four Croatians won all three World Cup regattas as well as the U23 World Championships. After finishing second behind the Polish boat at the 2010 European Rowing Championships , the Croatians won the title at the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand. In 2011, the Croatians took 2nd, 1st and 5th place in the World Cup, and at the 2011 World Rowing Championships the boat received the bronze medal behind the boats from Australia and Germany. In 2012, the Croatian double scull won all three World Cup regattas, and at the Olympic Games in London he won the silver medal behind the German boat.

At the 2013 World Rowing Championships , he won gold in a double scull ahead of Germany and the United Kingdom. The following year he and his brother won the double scull title at the 2014 World Rowing Championships , and the two brothers were able to defend their title at the 2015 World Championships . In May 2016, the Croatian double scull won the title at the European Championships . In August, the brothers also won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games .

After the brother couple had dominated the competition in double sculls for three years, they switched to the oars area for the 2017 season and rowed in double sculls without a helmsman . In their first appearance at the Rowing World Cup , Martin and Valent Sinković achieved second place behind a new combination from New Zealand. The Croatian duo also finished silver at the World Championships in Florida after the Italian team with Matteo Lodo and Giuseppe Vicino had overtaken them in the final sprint . In 2018 the brothers won the European Championships in Glasgow and a month and a half later at the World Championships in Plovdiv . In 2019 the two Croatians defended their titles at the European Championships in Lucerne and at the World Championships in Linz .
