Paul Vincent Costello (born December 27, 1894 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † April 17, 1986 there ) was an American rower . With three victories at the Olympic Games, he is one of the most successful rowers in the first half of the 20th century.

Costello won the national championships in 1919 and 1922 in one , but he was far more successful with the double scull. Together with his cousin John B. Kelly , the father of Grace Kelly and John B. Kelly junior , he won the gold medal at the 1920 Summer Olympics . They repeated this success four years later in Paris .

After Kelly finished his sports career, Charles McIlvaine became Costello's new rowing partner. At the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam , Costello succeeded again in winning the race. He was the first rower ever to become Olympic champion three times in a row in the same discipline. Besides him, only Vyacheslav Ivanov and Pertti Karppinen succeeded in single and Steven Redgrave in double without helmsman.
