Václav Kozák

Václav Kozák (born April 14, 1937 in Vrbno nad Lesy , † March 15, 2004 in Terezín ) was a Czechoslovak rower .

Václav Kozák and Pavel Schmidt achieved second place in the double scull at the European Rowing Championships in 1959, behind the Soviet Olympic champions from 1956 Alexander Berkutow and Yuri Tjukalow . At the Olympic Games in 1960 Kozák and Schmidt managed to defeat the Soviet double scull in advance. After Berkutow and Tjukalow through the repechage had qualified for the final, won Kozák and Schmidt in the final three seconds ahead of the Soviet double sculls. At the European Rowing Championships in 1961 Berkutow and Tjukalow won for the fifth time; behind the British two, Kozák and Schmidt received the bronze medal.

At the European Rowing Championships in 1963 Kozák won his only European title in a single. After a twelfth place in the one at the 1964 Olympic Games , he reached ninth place at the 1968 Olympic Games . Kozák won his only international medal after 1963 at the European Rowing Championships in 1965 , when he took third place with the four with a helmsman .

The 1.79 m tall Kozák worked as a coach after his career.
