John Mulcahy
John Joseph Francis Mulcahy (born July 20, 1876 in New York City , † November 19, 1942 there ) was an American rower .
John Mulcahy started for the New York Atalanta Boat Club and won a US title in double sculls with MF Monahan in 1891 . In 1898 Mulcahy graduated from Fordham University .
In 1904 Mulcahy rowed with William Varley to his second US title in double sculls. At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, the two won two boat lengths ahead of John Hoben and Jamie McLoughlin from the Long Island- based Ravenswood Boat Club . Mulcahy and Varley also competed in two without a helmsman on the same day , in this boat class the two took second place behind Robert Farnan and Joseph Ryan from the Seawanhaka Boat Club in Brooklyn, four boat lengths behind .
Mulcaly worked for many years after his rowing career with the Midvale Steel Company in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
