John Lifted
John Gray Hoben (May 1884 in Greenpoint , New York City , † July 5, 1915 in Long Island City , New York City) was an American rower .
John Hoben started for the Long Island-based New York Ravenswood Boat Club .
In 1904 Hoben rowed with Jamie McLoughlin in double sculls . With the Olympic Games 1904 in St. Louis won John Mulcahy and William Varley from also in New York-based Atalanta Boat Club with two boat lengths ahead of Hoben and McLoughlin.
Hoben was a member of the New York National Guard and worked as a civil engineer on subway construction. He died of pneumonia.
