Michael Dürsch

Michael Dürsch (born March 28, 1957 in Herrsching am Ammersee ) is a former German rower who started for RV Ingelheim.

Career

In 1976 Dürsch became German youth champion in one. Together with his Ingelheim teammate Albert Hedderich , he won four German championship titles in double sculls.

Internationally, the two formed the West German double fours with Raimund Hörmann and Dieter Wiedenmann from Ulm from 1978 to 1984 , with Michael Dürsch acting as batsman . In 1978 the team won bronze at the World Cup. In 1979 and 1982 the team was runner-up, each behind the boat from the GDR . In 1983 the West German occupation won the world championship title before the GDR. This was the first defeat of the four-man from the GDR at world championships since the introduction of this boat class in 1974.

Another highlight in the career of Michael Dürsch and his three colleagues was the victory in the quadruple sculls at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , for which he and his team were rewarded with the silver bay leaf .
