Martynas Džiaugys (born November 8, 1986 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian rower .

successes

Martynas Džiaugys took part in the Junior World Championships in 2002 and took 20th place in the two-man without helmsman . In 2004 he reached tenth place in the double sculls at the U23 World Championships , the following year he was ninth in the double sculls .

It was not until 2015 that Džiaugys was back at international championships. Together with Zygimantas Galisanskis , he finished tenth in the double scull at the European Championships . At the 2015 World Championships , Zygimantas Galisanskis, Martynas Džiaugys, Dominykas Jančionis and Aurimas Adomavičius achieved sixth place in the quadruple sculls and thus the direct Olympic qualification.

At the 2016 European Championships , Dovydas Nemeravičius , Martynas Džiaugys, Dominykas Jančionis and Aurimas Adomavičius formed the Lithuanian double four, who won the silver medal behind the Estonian boat. In this line-up, the quadruple also competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and finished ninth out of ten participating boats.

In 2017 Rolandas Maščinskas came into the double fours for Dominykas Jančionis. This crew won the World Cup opener in Belgrade and then also won the European Championships . At the World Cup final in Lucerne, the Lithuanians won with Saulius Ritter for Nemeravičius. At the 2017 World Championships , Nemeravičius was back in the quadruple scull, winning the title in front of the boats from the United Kingdom and Estonia.
