Saulius Ritter (born August 23, 1988 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian rower .

Career

Saulius Ritter has been rowing since 2001. At the 2004 Junior World Championships , he finished seventh in the two-man category . Although he regularly participated in the Junior World Championships and later in the U23 World Championships in the years thereafter , the result from 2004 remained his best international placement until 2010 when he won the bronze medal in the double scull with Rolandas Maščinskas at the U23 World Championships.

At the beginning of September 2011, the two finished tenth at the World Championships , two weeks later they won the 2011 European Championships . In 2012, Maščinskas and Ritter took part in the 2012 Olympic Games and took sixth place there. They finished fourth at the 2012 European Championships . The following year, the two Lithuanians won the silver medal behind the Italian boat and ahead of the Norwegians at the European Championships . At the 2013 World Championships, the Norwegians won ahead of the Lithuanians and the Italians. In 2014 Maščinskas and Ritter won the title at the European Championships for the second time . In Amsterdam at the 2014 World Championships, the Croatians won ahead of the Italians and Australians, the fourth-placed Lithuanians were just over a tenth of a second behind silver and bronze. In 2015, the Lithuanians won the silver medal behind the Croatians at the World Championships . At the European Championships in 2016, the Croatians won ahead of the German boat and the two Lithuanians. At the 2016 Olympic Games , Ritter joined up with Mindaugas Griškonis , the two of whom won the silver medal behind the Croatians. It was the second Olympic medal in rowing for Lithuania .

In 2017 Griškonis and Ritter took seventh place at the European Championships and fourth place at the World Championships . 2018 joined Knight with Dovydas Nemeravičius , rolandas maščinskas and Aurimas Adomavicius in the quadruple sculls , winning the silver medal at the European Championships .

The 2.03 m tall Saulius Ritter studies at the Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius. In July 2015, Maščinskas and Ritter won the title at the 2015 Summer Universiade .
