World Rowing Championships 2014
The 2014 World Rowing Championships were held from August 24 to 31, 2014 on the Bosbaan regatta course in Amstelveen ( Netherlands ) under the rules of the World Rowing Federation (FISA). The regatta course was previously the scene of the Rowing World Championships in 1977 as well as several events of the European Rowing Championships , the Rowing World Cup and various world championships in rowing.
At the event, rowing world champions were determined in 27 boat classes, 13 of them for men, 9 for women and 5 for par-rowers . A total of over 1100 participants from 60 nations were registered. The largest contingent came from Italy (26 boat classes), followed by the USA and Germany with entries in 25 classes each.

Due to the sometimes strong sliding wind conditions, 14 new world record times could be rowed in the context of the world championships . This applied to August 29th (Friday) and August 30th (Saturday):
- Women's double sculls: Australia with Olympia Aldersey and Sally Kehoe in 6: 37.31 (semifinals)
- Women's double foursome: Germany with Annekatrin Thiele , Carina Bär , Julia Lier and Lisa Schmidla in 6: 06.84 (final)
- Two women without a helmsman: Great Britain with Helen Glover and Heather Stanning in 6: 50.61 (final)
- Women's four without a helmsman: New Zealand with Kayla Pratt , Kelsey Bevan , Grace Prendergast and Kerri Gowler in 6: 14.36 (final)
- Women's lightweight double sculls: New Zealand with Sophie MacKenzie and Julia Edward in 6: 48.56 (final)
- Women's lightweight double sculls: Netherlands with Mirte Kraaijkamp , Elisabeth Woerner , Maaike Head and Ilse Paulis in 6: 15.95 (final)
- Men's double sculls: Croatia with Martin Sinković and Valent Sinković in 5: 59.72 (semifinals)
- Men's double foursome: Ukraine with Dmytro Michai , Artem Morosow , Oleksandr Nadtoka and Iwan Dowhodko in 5: 32.26 (final)
- Two men with helmsman: New Zealand with Eric Murray , Hamish Bond and Stm. Caleb Shepherd in 6: 33.26 (final)
- Men's lightweight single: Marcello Miani (Italy) in 6: 43.37 (final)
- Men's lightweight double sculls : South Africa with James Thompson and John Smith in 6: 05.36 (final)
- Men's lightweight double foursome : Greece with Georgios Konsolas , Spyridon Giannaros , Panagiotis Magdanis and Eleftherios Konsolas in 5: 42.75 (final)
- Men's lightweight two without a helmsman: Switzerland with Simon Niepmann and Lucas Tramèr in 6: 22.91 (final)
- Men's lightweight foursome without a helmsman: Denmark with Jacob Larsen , Jacob Barsøe , Kasper Winther and Morten Jørgensen in 5: 43.16 (semifinals)
On the other hand, the wind conditions occasionally caused uneven conditions on the six lanes of the regatta course.
