Christine Roper

Christine Roper (born May 15, 1990 in Montego Bay , Jamaica ) is a Canadian rower who won three medals at world championships in eighth place.

Christine Roper has been rowing since 2003. In 2010 she won the bronze medal at the U23 World Championships with the Canadian eighth , and in 2011 the eighth won. In 2012 she won her second U23 title, this time in a four without a helmsman . In 2013 she competed in the Rowing World Cup for the first time . At the World Cup in Lucerne, she finished third with eighth and won in the four without a helmsman. At the World Championships in Chungju , the four-man with Sarah Black , Christine Roper, Natalie Mastracci and Cristy Nurse won the silver medal behind the US four, the US eight won ahead of Romania and Canada, with all the rowers from the four also sitting in the Canadian eight. In 2014, the Canadian eighth won the World Cup finals in Lucerne in the absence of the US boat. At the World Championships in Amsterdam , however, the US boat won ahead of the Canadians. In 2015, the Canadian eighth won again in Lucerne, at the World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette , the Canadians rowed the bronze medal behind the US boat and the New Zealanders. At the 2016 Olympic Games , the Canadian eighth finished fifth.

In 2017 there were still three rowers from the Olympic eight in the boat, which took second place behind the Romanians at the World Championships in Sarasota . In addition to the eighth, Roper also competed in the four without a helmsman and took ninth place in this boat class. In 2018 Christine Roper only entered eighth, at the World Championships in Plovdiv the Canadians won silver behind the eighth from the United States.
