World Rowing Championships 2013
The 2013 World Rowing Championships took place from August 25 to September 1, 2013 on Lake Tangeum in Chungju ( South Korea ). At the event, rowing world champions were determined in 27 boat classes, 13 of them for men, 9 for women and 5 for par-rowers .
The application from Chungju was accepted in August 2009 at a congress of the World Rowing Federation (FISA) in Poznan. The German city of Brandenburg an der Havel had also applied for the event and significantly modernized the Beetzsee regatta course .
A total of 73 nations with 948 athletes and 384 boats entered the 27 boat classes. The United States made up the largest number of athletes with 87 athletes. Thus they occupied all boat classes. Germany provided 53 athletes and thus occupied 20 boats. Austria rowed in five boat classes with a total of 10 athletes. The Switzerland also went with 10 athletes and five boat classes at the start.

- In the ASM 1x, the Australian Erik Horrie undercut the world best time of Huang Cheng by 10 seconds to 4: 35.98.
- In the ASW 1x, the Russian Natalia Bolshakova undercut Alla Lysenko 's world best time by 11 seconds to 5: 13.95.
- The Germany eight does not win the world championship title for the first time since 2007.
- After the World Championships, the World Rowing Federation met for an extraordinary congress to determine the 2017 and 2018 World Rowing Championships . With Jean-Christophe Rolland , a successor to long-time President Denis Oswald was also elected.
